Anacortes, WA

Fidalgo Bay - July 5 - 12

The drive from Seven Feathers to Fidalgo Bay was on I-5 north the entire trip. We had an interesting experience at the Pilot where two truck drivers almost came to blows in front of the Newell in the diesel lanes as I watched from inside the coach. Other than that, it was  uneventful until we arrived in Seattle. Wow! What a lot of traffic. SO much traffic. Quite possibly the most we have seen on this trip. There were some lane changes, and I have to give credit where credit is due to the people of Washington. Dad put on his blinker and it was like every car that was near us magically disappeared so there was room for us to change lanes. I am very critical of driving skills and was impressed with the majority of driving I saw. We decided to take I-5 through the middle of Seattle instead of the interstate around the city so a lot of the time, I was out of my seat taking pictures as we drove through the city.

Lots of boats

You know you're in the big city when the Speed Limits change based on the amount of traffic

SO MUCH TRAFFIC
Fidalgo Bay RV Resort by the Sea was down a tiny two lane road, and I thought we might end up in the sea ourselves. But we didn't, and drove into our spot with no problems. This park is right on the ocean with two main camping areas, and we are in the one that is farther from the ocean, but still lovely. The staff was kind and helpful when we decided to stay longer and had to move the Newell.

The town we are near is called Anacortes. It's a very nautical town as it is right on the water, and there are many boats. Although it is a small town, it has everything someone could need.   We can ride our bikes into town on the Tommy Thompson Trail.    We did this to look at boats at a marina. The first night we were in town we ate at a place called "Adrift." We found a menu on the internet and thought it was reasonable for dinner, but when we sat down, we realized that the menu we found was probably from 2000. Fortunately, we decided to stay and had delicious meals of halibut and pork tacos which we shared.

We didn't sit outside - too cold

The days that we weren't traveling were spent planning the next leg of the trip. It's hard to  believe we have been gone almost a month and a half! We have to stop staying so long in places or we will never go anywhere. The next part of the trip will take us to Spokane, WA and then to Glacier National Park. Looking forward to seeing these places and meeting more people along the way. Thanks for keeping up with us!!!
