Spokane, WA

Spokane, WA - July 12 - 14

We really hit the rush hour traffic when leaving Anacortes/Seattle. I think we were in it for two hours. I don't know why people weren't at their desks at 8:00 AM, but they were definitely not and definitely on the interstate. The traffic kept moving, but it was slow, and I didn't get up at 5:45 AM for nothing! Driving east (for the first time this trip!) through Washington was pretty cool. It was mountains, mountains, mountains, and then  we seemed to be in the deserts of AZ again. Amazing how the landscape can change that quickly.

On the way to Spokane
More WA
We didn't actually stay in Spokane, but in Deer Park, WA which is about 20 miles outside of Spokane. We had to exit the interstate early in the trip and wind our way through town to get to Deer Park.   I was frequently on the phone with the Spokane RV Resort getting extra directions to avoid all traffic circles! The final bit of the trip was through a residential area, but the roads were plenty big enough for the Newell. The Spokane RV Resort is connected with the Deer Park Golf Club. There wasn't really anything for us tourists to see  in Deer Park so we spent our time (2 nights) at the Newell. It's always nice to have that time to plan some more and rest. Dad actually washed the Newell while I slept in (I can't reach anything!) and did some more work on the Newell (and I definitely know less about that!!) Deer Park will probably be the nicest place we will stay for a long time, so we wanted to soak it in, and we did.

West Highland White Terriers! - Like our Beemer. These are sisters (Charlotte and Sophia), and their  Mum and Dad are from England.  They wanted the Westies to have Southern names. This is their second set of the little dearies. They are smaller than Beemer, but so sweet and I love them!

Another view of the gorgeous golf course
Our view of the golf course - all of the spots on our row were motorhomes only and all pull in sites - such a beautiful view to see of them lined up in an organized way.
This picture gives a good idea of how long the sites are at Spokane. Amazing! And we were so lucky that when we left, there wasn't anyone on the spot across the street, so Dad just had to back straight out, across the street and into the empty spot and then pull out, hook up, and head out.
This is the other Westie we met! This place must be Westie Heaven. She is a volunteer dog at her local hospital because she is so calm around strangers and doesn't get spooked by loud nosies. She went through some  extensive testing and training to be a hospital dog and really loved the attention she was getting from us!!
The wide streets of Spokane RV Resort - what a great place!!!
One more of the Newell and our view of the golf course. We moved the table into the shade so we could play Yahtzee. We also really enjoyed riding our bikes around in the residential area around the resort as well. There was a pool, but I wasn't feeling 100% on this part of the trip, and Dad hates for me to be in the sun, so I just skipped it. Good kid.

We did go into Spokane to the Super Wal-Mart which was quite an adventure because the GPS wasn't up to date on her roads, even though Dad updated her during this trip (she's so dumb sometimes - gives me a major headache).  She sent us all over until we found our back way into the Wal-Mart. I made a mistake and forgot to get the trash bags, and we are getting ready to head into some middle of nowhere areas. It was on the list too, and I just overlooked it....my fault! Also, the people of Spokane are anti-shoes and shirts in Wally World. Hmmm. From Spokane, we head to West Glacier KOA to see Glacier National Park - looking forward to seeing the glaciers and to getting into some cooler weather!

 Heading back east a little.....
