Wild, Wild West

Goin' to the WILD, WILD WEST!

We're going West, baby!

June---August 2012
What else can you do when you're done with college, don't have a job, a boyfriend, or anything else tying you down? Double thumbs up to everyone who has those things, by the way (hopefully I'll be there sooner rather than later...!!!)

Russ, the Dad and the driver, and I (the backseat driver) are headed West on a 3 (THREE), month adventure in our 1999 Newell. Dad bought the Newell from Buddy Rice (the winner of the Indy 500 in 2004) about 2 years ago in Mesa, AZ, and since then it has been either at Lotterdale Cove Campground in Vonore,TN, or Cudjoe Key, FL.

The Newell is 45 feet long (aka Greyhound Bus), or my favorite description "a la Britney Spears tour bus style." Although we aren't that terribly fancy. It has two slides for the living area and bedroom, two potties, a washer AND separate dryer, granite counter tops, back up camera, air doors, and a house size refrigerator. Clearly we are truly roughing it on this trip. We are towing a Jeep Liberty with an extra Newell tire attached to the top. All in all we are hard to miss driving down the road!

We haven't planned too far in advance, but the idea is to cover as much of the West as we can in the time frame (or until the bank account runs out, whichever comes first). We will try as hard as possible to stay only at campgrounds that are in the book Big Rigs Best Bets. This book was written by a couple who are full timers as they traveled all over the country and assessed campgrounds to find out if a campground can accommodate us. Even if we have to stay way out of our way, we will! That's why we have the Jeep so we can enjoy what we really want to see without worrying about the Newell.

Let us know if you have any suggestions for places we need to go!!

Come along for the ride and the adventure....and as always, GO VOLS!
